A private household in Calgary is seeking a dependable and compassionate Home Support Worker to provide personal care, assistance and companionship to an elderly individual in his home.

Location: Calgary, Alberta
Work setting: Private residence – on site

Employment: Full-time
Wage: $22.00/hour
Hours: 30 hours/week
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
Start date: As soon as possible
Language: English
Live-in: No – live-out position

Duties

• Assist with personal care and activities of daily living
• Assist with mobility and regular daily activities
• Prepare and serve meals
• Provide medication reminders according to established instructions
• Provide companionship and social support
• Accompany the client to medical appointments and necessary outings
• Assist with grocery shopping and errands related to the client’s needs
• Launder the client’s clothing and household linens
• Perform light housekeeping related to the client’s living environment
• Observe the client’s general well-being and communicate significant changes or concerns to the family
• Help maintain a safe and comfortable home environment

Qualifications

Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.

Previous experience providing care or assistance to an elderly person is an asset. Appropriate orientation and on-the-job training will be provided.

Caregiver or elderly-care training is an asset. First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.

Applicant must be able to communicate effectively in English and perform the duties safely and independently.
